How can SENDIASS help?
We can:
- help you get the right support at school or college
- answer your questions about care
- help you think through your options after school or college
- support you to be involved in decisions that affect you
- listen to you and tell other people like teachers and caseworkers what’s important to you
You can ask us about anything to do with having disabilities or additional needs. Not sure if we’ll be able to help? Ask anyway! If we can’t help, we’ll try to find someone who can.

There are SENDIASS services across the country. The Council for Disabled Children (CDC) has created a video of young people talking about SENDIASS services and how they can help. They have also made an animation about SENDIASS services.
Who is SENDIASS for?
You can get help from SENDIASS if you are:
- aged 14 to 25
- living or studying in Brighton & Hove or East Sussex
- disabled, neurodivergent, or have additional needs of any kind
For example: learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, mental health difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory disabilities.
You don’t have to have a diagnosis, and you don’t need an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) to get support.
SENDIASS also offers advice and support for parents and carers.

Do I have to talk on the phone?
Sally is the SENDIASS worker for young people. She can give advice and information different ways, depending on what you prefer:
- by phone
- by email
- over video call
- in person
She can meet you on your own or with your parents or carers – it’s up to you.
How much does SENDIASS cost?
Nothing. It’s completely free!
Why is it called SENDIASS?
SENDIASS stands for SEND Information Advice and Support Service.
SEND means special educational needs and disabilities.
Anything else I should know?
Our support is confidential – we won’t tell other people what you say unless you agree it’s okay, or if someone is in danger of being hurt.
We give impartial support and don’t take sides.
We won’t tell you what to do, just give you honest and clear information so you can make your own decisions.
