Crisis support

Amaze is not a crisis service. If you need urgent help with your mental health, here are some services that can help.

If you or anyone else is at risk of death or serious injury right now, call 999.

Speak to a doctor or nurse

If you aren’t in danger right now but you are struggling with your mental health, you could:

  • call your doctor
  • call 111 and choose the mental health option (open 24 hours)
  • text your school nurse on 07507 332473 (East Sussex) or 07480 635423 (Brighton & Hove). They will respond within working hours.

A doctor or nurse can talk to you about options for support. This might include:

  • talking to a counselor or therapist
  • taking medication
  • attending a support group
  • taking a course or workshop
  • referring you to a specialist for assessment or support

They can also talk to you about changes you can make in your life that might help, and tell you where to find useful resources. They might do tests to rule out physical health problems that could be causing your symptoms too.

Contact a helpline

You can contact these helplines any time, day or night:

You can find other mental health helplines here, including ones for young people, LGBTQIA+ people, and more.

Talk to a friend

If you can, it’s also a good idea to reach out to a trusted friend or family member. It might be hard to tell someone how you’re feeling, but it can really help to have support. The people who care about you will want to know if you’re struggling.

Remember, you aren’t alone. Things might feel hopeless right now, but things may feel a lot more manageable after talking things through with someone.
