Help with DLA and PIP

Get support to apply for disability benefits (Brighton & Hove only)

money

We offer advice and information about disability benefits like DLA or PIP.

We also support some young people who need extra help to apply.

This service is for young people who are under 20 years old, who live or study in Brighton & Hove.

DLA and PIP are payments you get from the government to help with the extra costs of being disabled or having additional needs. You don’t have to pay this money back.

  • DLA is a disability benefit for under 16s
  • PIP is a disability benefit for over 16s

dictionaryDLA stands for Disability Living Allowance

PIP stands for Personal Independence Payment

In order to decide whether you are eligible to receive benefits, the government asks you to fill out a form about how your disabilities affect you. They may invite you to a face-to-face assessment as well.

You should get advice from an expert or do research about DLA/PIP before you fill out the form, to give you the best chance of having a successful claim.

You should also include as much supporting evidence as you can. For example, doctors reports, care plans, or a copy of your EHC plan if you have one.
