Ethos and values

What we think is important to do when we work with you, and what you can expect from us.

Jem, Amazing Futures Coordinator in Brighton, faces a young person, listening attentively.

Your voice is at the heart of everything we do.

Everything we do is led by you. Young people are involved in decisions at every level, and we’re proud to have young people on our staff and our board of trustees.

How we’ll treat you

When we work with you, we will try to always:

Listen

We will listen to you, to learn what support you want from Amaze. We will respond to what you tell us.

We believe all young people have the right to be heard, respected and fully included in the community.

Support

We can help you understand what your choices are.

We can support you to take the steps you need, to get to where you want to be.

Empower

We aim to help build your self-confidence, self-worth and resilience.

We can support you to:

  • connect with other young people
  • make decisions about your life
  • take action

Hands in different skin tones form a heartWhatever your race or ethnicity, gender, sexuality, or disability, you are welcome here. We want you to always feel safe, understood, and included, and to know you are being treated fairly. Learn more about how we promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

The Five Ways to Wellbeing

There is evidence that shows there are five ways you can improve your mental health and wellbeing. We use these Five Ways to Wellbeing in our work with young people:

Connect

Meet other young people like you at our groups and talk to our trained peer supporters.

Learn

We can support you to access learning opportunities, to help you to achieve your future plans.

Be active

We often run group sessions with fun ways to get active. You can also use your Compass Card to find fun activities to do and access special deals at leisure centres and more.

Give

You can volunteer with Amazing Futures as a peer supporter, helping support young people at our groups. We also sometimes volunteer together in our community.

Take notice

We encourage you to reflect on things like:

  • how are you feeling?
  • what is going well in your life?
  • what would you like to change?

We promote creativity through our art sessions, and our outdoor activities offer a chance to spend time in nature.
