Amazing Futures is a project for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), run by the charity Amaze.

Amazing Futures’ mission:

To support disabled young people to feel more confident and resilient, get their voices heard, and achieve their goals.

About Amaze

Amaze is a charity supporting families with disabled children and young people in Sussex. Amaze first started as a parent carer helpline in Brighton all the way back in 1997. Now we provide lots of different kinds of support to both parent carers and disabled young people in Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.

About Amazing Futures

Amazing Futures is the name for all of Amaze’s services for young people. This includes:

  • Groups and peer support
  • Volunteering
  • Career support (Brighton only)
  • SENDIASS advice service
  • Help with DLA and PIP
  • Youth voice
  • Online SEND advice and information

Our services are for young people with any kind of disability or additional needs aged 14 to 25 in Brighton & Hove and East Sussex. Everything is free or low cost, and you don’t need a diagnosis.

“I honestly think that if I didn’t have Amaze then my life would be very different, in a negative way, and I really would struggle with things. I’m really grateful that I know Amaze, and that I’m really lucky that I’ve had them as my supporters.”

The Amazing Futures project was launched in 2016 in Brighton, before expanding to East Sussex in 2018. It started as just groups and peer support, before growing to include all our services for young people.

Since 2016 we’ve supported countless disabled young people to grow in confidence and independence, gain new skills, and find their voice.

Amazing Futures belongs to young people. We’ve been youth-led from the very beginning, with young people at our groups guiding us every step of the way, as well as our fantastic young people’s interns and volunteers.

You’ve been involved in decisions about everything from what activities we do at groups all the way up to helping recruit staff and guiding strategic decisions.

We’re proud to now have young people sitting on Amaze’s board, and working at Amaze too.
