Amaze Xtra - under construction
A space where young people with higher support needs can make friends and try new things.

For example: autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, or physical disabilities

You do need to book for each session you want to attend though, as there are limited spaces.

Some of the groups have specific themes, like boardgames, wellbeing walks, or running.

AmazeXtra is a youth club for young people aged 14 to 25 with higher support needs in Brighton.
The groups are free to attend, and we do loads of fun activities like arts and crafts, pool, table tennis, wordsearches, karaoke, and dancing! We also have monthly sports workshops with Albion Foundation.
“Coming to AmazeXtra always cheers me up when I am having a bad day”

Each member of staff supports a small number of young people. Usually they support between two to five young people, depending on how much support each young person needs. We are sometimes able to offer one-to-one support when a young person really needs this. You may hear this referred to as a 1:1, 1:2 or 1:5 staff ratio.
When and where?
The club meets every Wednesday in term time, from 4pm to 7pm at Portslade Village Centre.
We have a waiting list, so please get in touch if you’d like to join us.
The club was originally run by Extratime, but Amaze took over running the club when Extratime closed. We named the club AmazeXtra to remember the club’s past as well as its future.
Youth voice at Amaze Xtra
AmazeXtra has a partnership with the charity Stay Up Late. Together we run youth voice sessions where young people can have their say.
Youth voice is a really important part of all our AmazeXtra sessions. Young people are encouraged to share their ideas on everything we do. We use visuals and PECS so that non-verbal young people can share their opinions and ideas as well.
We also take part in consultations with other organisations, to empower young people with disabilities to get their voice heard.
